Why I use simple natural colours for newborn sessions

When it comes to my newborn sessions I am going to be honest and share with you the fact that I do not like super bright coloured props or animal outifits! you know the ones..bright green turtle outfit and bright red lady bird ones, they are simply not my style and its important I share that with you, so that you know what and why I do what I do within my photography.

When I shoot my newborn sessions I am quite specific about what colours and styles of props I go for, today Im going to share with you why I only like simple & natural coloured handmade hats, head bands and wraps.

Bright colours and large props or outfits can cause distract from the main subject of the photograph, your bundle of joy! and thats the main reason I like to keep my colours natural and simple.

When buying my beautiful handmade hats I aim for colours like beiges and greys mostly, as they are very versatile colours and can be used for both boy & girl. They are subtle yet pretty and compliment a babies soft skin tone perfectly. I also have to keep in mind that parents like traditional pink and blues so when I buy these I make sure they are not bright pinks and blues that are over powering.

I also theme my photo shoots around the seasons, for example in spring I like to use quite light refreshing shades like whites, creams and pastel colours, where as for autumn, richer reds and oranges look beautiful for both boys and girls.

I have always liked the saying "less is more" and I use that a lot within my work, less props, less cluttered backgrounds, Im just a lover of simple, elegant and fresh.
